We are currently seeking a dedicated individual to fill the position of Mechanical Engineer, and here are the key responsibilities and qualifications for this role:
Key Responsibilities:
- Manufacture standard products and engineered systems by interpreting circuit diagrams, technical drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs), while maintaining the highest standards of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) practices.
- Ensure timely manufacturing of products according to the production plan, promptly reporting shortages or design issues to the line manager.
- Participate in pre-handover meetings with Engineering to ensure clear understanding and availability of all necessary data before commencing the build. Highlight any potential issues affecting the build.
- Demonstrate knowledge of working with and installing high-pressure fittings and twin ferrule fittings.
- - Ability to bend and install low and high-pressure instrumentation pipework ranging from ¼" to ½".
- Participate in daily production walkarounds, effectively communicating build progress and potential issues affecting delivery.
- Complete pre-pressure testing checks and ensure all documentation is signed off before transferring products to the pressure test area for final testing.
- Liaise with the Test Technician in the event of a failure, carry out any rework, and arrange retesting as appropriate.
- Adhere to relevant risk assessments for processes, equipment, and substances used, ensuring correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn at all times.
- Maintain the highest level of housekeeping standards in the workspace.
- Raise Quality Incident Reports (QIR) for any non-conforming material, specification, HSE incidents, or near misses.
- Support the introduction of Lean manufacturing principles.
- Assist in the training and development of apprentices and new employees.
- In support of environmental standards, ensure all waste is segregated and disposed of correctly, with particular emphasis on hazardous waste.
Qualifications/Capabilities
- Apprenticeship/degree in mechanical engineering, accompanied by ONC/HND or equivalent in mechanical engineering.
- Ability to interpret hydraulic circuit diagrams, technical drawings, BOMs, and basic electrical wiring drawings.
- Strong problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and attention to detail.
- Capable of working to tight deadlines and maintaining clarity under pressure.
- Demonstrated flexibility in adapting to varying work demands.
- Preferable, but training can be provided: basic knowledge/experience of pressure testing and working with pressurized components.
- IT skills are desirable, but not essential.
