IT Support Officer

Are you excited by the idea of being at the forefront of IT support for all the academics, students and staff of a busy University department? If so, you could be the person we are looking for to join our team.

This role requires an enthusiastic self-motivated individual to manage a varied workload in a busy department; you will have a high degree of independence, within a supportive and communicative small departmental team.

You will be responsible for looking after the day-to-day IT needs of all the members of staff within the DPAG and to work closely with the IT Operations and Support Manager in delivering a first-class support service.

The role will involve all aspects of general desktop/laptop/ mobile phone and peripheral first-line assistance and will require a good understanding of Windows OS (10 and 11 as well as legacy systems), Mac OSX, and Linux (Ubuntu). You will also need to help users resolve issues with University and third-party accounts, software programs, lecture capture and meeting room AV facilities, and participate in projects involving new University technologies and systems as they arise.

You should be educated to at least A-level standard or equivalent, have a good understanding of a range of popular IT applications and a broad overall knowledge of IT topics, excellent inter-personal and telephone skills, as well as the ability to work with people at all levels of seniority in the University.

The post is based in The Department of Physiology Anatomy & Genetics, Sherrington Building, Sherrington Rd, Oxford OX1 3PT You will be asked to upload a CV and a supporting statement.
