Job description
We are looking for a Personal Injury Claims Handler to join our Motor Claims Team.Responsible for investigating, reserving, and negotiating settlement of complex and high-value personal injury claims. The portfolio of claims will range from between £25k - £150k and will include both litigated and non-litigated claims.
Key Accountabilities:
• Assessing indemnity, investigating liability and quantum on motor claims, ensuring that each claim is dealt with thoroughly to limit indemnity spend
• Communicating professionally to ensure our policy holders are treated fairly and that the customer receives world class customer service in accordance with industry and company guidelines.
• Proactively managing a caseload ensuring that correspondence and tasks are dealt within the SLA’s
• Negotiating settlement of third-party claims
• Improve customer claims experience by identifying process / control gaps in legal defence panel performance and agreeing relevant actions.
• Maintaining a high degree of technical knowledge and to keep abreast of market and legal updates
• Support cost, service, and process efficiency projects across the department, as well as participating in departmental projects.
• Maintain resilience and composure to remain positive under pressure and in changing circumstances
• Demonstrate a desire to take ownership of your work and maintain excellent attention to detail
• Constantly seek and communicate improvements in how we deliver excellent customer service.
• Undertake any individual or team task in line with the company values
• Ensure a relevant level of technical understanding with continuous development and learning.
Experience / knowledge:
• Minimum 5 years’ experience of handling Technical personal injury claims
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and be capable and confident negotiator
• Time management and organisation skills
• The ability to manage their time effectively and demonstrate great attention to detail
• Be capable of assessing evidence and making strong commercial decisions
• Have a proven track record in dealing with fast-track and multi-track bodily injury claims including liability disputes.
• A good knowledge of indemnity, liability and quantum issues will also be useful
Qualifications:
• Secondary education with qualifications in Maths and English, or demonstrable ability in numeracy skills & written English
