Public Engagement, Roslin Institute, Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine Full time (35 hours per week) Fixed term, funding available until March 2025 We are looking for an organised and flexible individual to provide administrative, customer service and operational support for the Roslin Institute’s award-winning Public Engagement (PE) programme. The role is based in the Public Engagement team at the Roslin Institute, on the University of Edinburgh’s Easter Bush Campus in Midlothian. The Roslin Institute PE programme includes in-person and online activities for primary, secondary, and international schools, FE colleges, adult learners, and teachers; as well as events for community groups and the wider public. These activities are linked to the Roslin Institute’s research into genes and traits for healthy animals, and prevention and control of infectious diseases, which allow Roslin’s experts to develop the Institute’s overall research themes of sustainable agriculture, controlling diseases and enhancing health. The Opportunity: The job will involve a variety of duties, including administering PE activity bookings; handling telephone and email enquiries; record keeping; maintaining mailing lists; updating webpages; diary management; booking travel; and other administrative, customer service and operational tasks to support the Roslin Institute Public Engagement team. We are looking for someone who is organised, flexible and willing to learn. You will have good attention to detail and a working understanding of IT packages including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, as well as the ability to provide excellent customer service. The role will include access to University of Edinburgh training courses to build on existing administrative skills where required. The role is advertised as full-time, 35 hours per week, but requests for flexible working will be considered. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.
