Job description
You are here: Home / News / News / Blind Veterans UK – Vision Rehabilitation Specialist – ROVI – (Hybrid)
Rustington, West Sussex
Most of us grow up with 5 senses and can’t imagine what it’s like to lose any one of those.
For some ex-service people, this is their reality. Suddenly their whole way of life is changed, even walking to the shops becomes a huge task.
Fortunately, Blind Veterans are here to help rebuild their lives. But they can’t do it alone.
This is where you come in.
As a ROVI Wellbeing Specialist, you’ll carry out assessments and interventions with our visually impaired veterans. You’ll work closely with wellbeing specialists of other disciplines to identify holistic wellbeing interventions to give the veterans both the motivation and ability to live a full, healthy lifestyle and engage in meaningful activities.
You’ll also take the members out into the community, where you’ll support them with various activities and events – including trips to the beach!
You’ll provide specific, targeted interventions with a focus on outcomes such as promoting independence, safety, and improved wellbeing. You’ll help veterans understand how to achieve a life beyond sight loss. You’ll focus on honest and realistic targets and have the ability to manage the expectations of our veterans.
You’ll work closely with wellbeing specialists of other disciplines within an MDT. Being part of an MDT offers opportunities for upskilling.
As ROVI Wellbeing Specialist, you’ll of course focus on this area and will need to be a qualified and registered ROVI worker with RWPN. You’ll also need empathy and a caring personality to allow you to always put the needs of our veterans first.
This is a full time role covering Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm. Candidates will need to be flexible dependent on the service and individual weeks at the centre. We are able to consider hybrid working for this position.
We offer:
– Salary of £36,238.27 per annum
– Generous annual leave with the option to buy additional days
– Pension scheme with generous employer contributions
– Healthcare cash plan
– Access to legal services and mental health support
– Employee assistance programme
– Paid professional subscriptions and discounts
– Home working allowance
– Professional and personal development
– Enhanced pay
Blind Veterans UK helps vision-impaired ex-service people of every generation rebuild their lives after sight loss. We help blind ex-service people lead independent and fulfilling lives by supporting them with our in-depth expertise, experience and full range of services.
This position is subject to Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Checks.
We are only able to accept applications from candidates who are located in and eligible to work within the UK. We are unable to provide any type of Visa sponsorship.
We embrace diversity and welcome applicants from people with a disability and from all backgrounds and cultures.
The current closing date is 30 January 2024, however we may close the role early if we successfully appoint a candidate, so please don’t delay in submitting your application.
