Team Educate are seeking an experienced Learning Support or Teaching Assistant to work on a 1-to-1 basis with pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in our partner school in Penarth. This is a fantastic opportunity in a school with unrivaled facilities in a grand, historic setting.

The school are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant or Special Needs Support Specialist to join their fantastic in-house support team. As part of the role, you will be working closely with pupils, primarily with a diagnosis of ASC, supporting them through individual mentoring, as well as assisting them on a 1:1 basis as well as within small groups.

Experience with non-verbal communication and complex learning difficulties will be essential for this role. If you have received training in Makaton or PECS (The Picture Exchange Communication System) in working alongside children or adults with moderate to severe learning difficulties, we'd love to hear more about your experience! Similarly, if you have experience in using Makaton within a school/learning-based role, you may be able to offer some excellent support for the schools' most vulnerable pupils.

The ideal Makaton/PECS Classroom Assistant will need:

• Experience of working in schools and supporting pupils with SEND and alongside various learning difficulties.
• Teaching Assistant/classroom-based support experience.
• Training in Makaton or PECS and experience supporting non-verbal communication.
• A pro-active approach and the ability to find solutions when met with barriers in young people's learning.
• An understanding of strategies to support, engage and encourage young people in their learning.

* This role would be better suited to somebody who can drive with use of their own car due to it's location.
