Mechanical Design Engineer
Nottingham
£40,000 - £60,000
Our client are a market leading manufacturer of automated solutions, including conveyors and bespoke robotic cells. They provide into a multitude of industries including but not limited to: automated logistics and food and beverage manufacture, they are seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer with a background in automated distribution and robots to join their growing team.
Key Responsibilities – Mechanical Design Engineer
- Designing both bespoke and updating existing products and solutions
- Produce drawings using SolidWorks / AutoCad
- Creating BOM
- Ensuring that Engineering calculations are carried out.
- Ensure Directives & Engineering standards are adhered to.
- Customer Liaison
- Occasional visits to our customer sites.
Qualifications & Experience – Mechanical Design Engineer
- Relevant Engineering degree - Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Minimum 3 years post qualification Mechanical Design Engineering experience
- Hands on exposure to the design of electro-mechanical systems in an industrial, automotive or aerospace environment. Ideally designing conveyors, automation or materials handling equipment
- Able to interpret customer and supplier technical documentation & specifications
- Proficient in the generation of design concepts taking input from other cross-functional team members.
- CAD Macros / Automation
- Computer programming (coding) experience (beneficial, not compulsory)
- Rapid Prototyping experience (3D Printing, beneficial)
- Working knowledge of structural mechanics and implementation of Finite Element Analysis in Design (beneficial)
- Working knowledge of kinematics and dynamics (theoretical, or via software, or both), and ability to use for analysis of new designs
- Experience with PDM systems (beneficial, not compulsory)
- Experience of using CAD Library generation / automation software (beneficial – not compulsory)
- Conveyor design experience (very beneficial, however not compulsory). Internal training would be provided.
