Governance & Project Specialist

Job description
You will be responsible for making a high quality contribution to the governance, compliance and risk management of Group’s UK Pensions Plan (both DB and DC – combined assets under management of c£5.6bn and c178,000 members), as well as leading key governance projects and including the compliance with the Pensions Regulator’s new code.
About the role
- Assisting the Head of Trustee Governance by delivering best-in-class governance services for the Group’s UK Pension Plan.
- Working closely with the Head of Trustee Governance to fulfil the audit & risk management requirements for the Group’s UK Pension Plan and ensure the Plan has an effective overall system of governance and risk management framework.
- Identify and recommend improvements to governance and risk management, in line with best practice and the Department’s ethos of continuous improvement.
- Provision of services includes executive support to the Trustee Board’s Audit & Risk Management Committee drafting agendas, preparation and distribution of meeting papers, attendance at meetings & taking notes, liaising in particular with the Trustee’s general risk management and cyber risk
About you
- Well rounded Technical knowledge of UK occupational legislative requirements gained in-house or in consultancy.
- Strong understanding of risk management, controls and processes.
- Strong planning, organisational and communication skills required.
- Highly motivated with an ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks and work streams.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
- Expect good working knowledge of defined benefit pensions built up over 5 or more years.
- Prefer some experience of acting as a project manager, fulfilling a technical & compliance and/or risk management role within trustee executive governance team.
