Job description
We are seeking a well-qualified and dynamic Teacher of German to join our Languages Faculty on a full-time basis for one academic year. The successful candidate will be expected to teach across all ages. The ability to teach a second modern language from French, Italian and Spanish would be advantageous but not essential. Currently, Year 10 and 11 pupils study the Edexcel International GCSE course. At A Level, pupils study the AQA Linear course in German.
The German Department at KES is thriving, and students consistently achieve outstanding results at both IGCSE and A Level. Students begin studying German in either Year 7 or Year 8 and enjoy a varied and exciting curriculum combining language skills and cultural knowledge. The department offers a range of co-curricular activities across all Key Stages, from writing and translation competitions to yearly trips to German-speaking destinations. All members of the department are passionate about the German language, and we are also fortunate to work with a native German speaker who holds regular speaking practice with all students, in small groups across KS3 and IGCSE and individually at A Level.
The post would be equally suitable for someone seeking a first appointment or an experienced teacher. A willingness to contribute to the School’s wide range of co-curricular activities is expected. The School uses 1-1 technology to enhance teaching and learning.
King Edward’s has its own generous salary scale as well as contributing a highly competitive 22.5% employer contribution to the APTIS defined contribution pension scheme, private medical insurance and health cash plan and a reduction in school fees. There is also onsite accommodation available to rent at a subsidised rate for single occupancy.
