We are looking for a confident Physical Health Care assistant with a passion for delivering outstanding care.

Cygnet Hospital Colchester is a 54 bed service providing a range of intensive support and rehabilitation services for men with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders or mental health needs.

Your day-to-day…

• To support evidence based physical health practice initiatives across the service

• Support with the monitoring and documentation of physical health screening across the service.

• Support with the monitoring and documentation for ongoing monitoring of physical health of all patients including annual health checks in close collaboration with the ward doctors.

• To work closely with the ward doctors and physical health lead in ensuring that patients across the service have access to primary care services including dental and eye checks.

• To work in line with current legislation, company policies, and other relevant local & national guidance pertaining to physical health guidance within mental health services.

• Contribute, as required, to national audits, and support with carry out clinical audits as required, to ensure that standards are maintained in line with Company policy and national best practice. Ensure information and comprehensive records relating to physical health is recorded in MyPath and entered appropriately on other data records as required.

• Support the PHN to monitor medical equipment and ensure it is available across site to ensure that patient’s physical health needs are adequately monitored.

• To support with the delivery of training to registered and non-registered staff.

• To support the delivery of patient physical health education.

• To support the lead PHN with the management of infection control and Covid-19 procedures within the hospital in accordance with the Company Policies and Procedures.

You have..

• Qualification in Maths and English GCSE or equivalent (Essential)
• Working in a healthcare setting (Essential)
• Working in a Mental Health setting and/or Physical Health Care (Desirable)
• Evidence of continue professional learning and a willingness to train and develop new skills (Essential)
• Trained in Phlebotomy and/or other areas of physical health (Desirable)

Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
