A Prestigious School located in Bromley is seeking a Senior IT Technician to be part of their team on a permanent basis. The ideal candidate for this role is someone who has good interpersonal skills and technical skills to handle the overall IT processes across the organisation.

About the Role

They are looking for a Senior IT Technician that is confident, resilient and functions well as part of a team. This role requires having excellent communication and interpersonal skills, has a 'can-do' attitude, highly organised and must have the ability to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities:

To be responsible for the entire lifecycle of the school’s information technology, from core infrastructure to technology-enabled teaching and learning

To lead the local IT support team in providing a highly responsive support service tailored to the individual and collective user needs

To support the Digital Strategy Lead in ensuring IT systems enable the school to realise its pedagogical objectives

Leadership

To provide regular reports to the Senior Leadership Team on the effectiveness of systems and age of devices to facilitate refresh planning

To plan the work of the IT Technician(s), recognising their strengths and areas of expertise and to produce documentation for all procedures.

To create a professional work environment and ethos within the IT support team

To undertake regular meetings with the IT team to review their professional development and ability to meet all aspects of their work

To provide appropriate support and training to maintain an effective service

To assist with the recruitment and training of new IT staff

Network Infrastructure

To develop systems and resources to implement school policy and to enhance learning

To take overall responsibility for ensuring that the school network is managed, monitored and maintained, so it operates efficiently and effectively, anticipating and rectifying likely difficulties wherever possible

To oversee the design and implementation of systems for backup, validation and restoration of systems and data

To oversee the design and implementation of technical measures that ensure compliance with the policies, particularly in terms of security, licensing and data protection

To ensure that the school has licenses for the software in use at the time and maintain documentary proof of this

To oversee the creation, implementation and monitoring of procedures for user and file maintenance and other administrative tasks

To ensure the network is secure at all times and that staff and pupils have access only to appropriate areas of the network

To design, specify, procure and install hardware and software that support learning, administration and other functions of the school

To manage various school-wide support and network management software

Financial Management

Assist Finance and SLT with budget and refresh planning

To be responsible for day-to-day ordering, procurement and asset management of IT equipment, cabling, software and consumables in line with financial policy and guidance

General

To adhere to organisational policies and procedures

To ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974

As guided by the Data Protector Officer, ensure compliance with the GDPR 2018

To show commitment to the Academy’s Equal Opportunity Policy

Flexibility

This role is not intended to be all-inclusive and they require the ideal candidate to be flexible and show initiative

May be required to perform other related duties within the pay grade to meet the ongoing needs of the school

Any other duties as deemed necessary by the Director of Operations or the Principal

This role will be expected to attend UL cluster meetings periodically; therefore, an element of travel is required within this role

This role also demands high levels of literacy competency as all written communication must be in Standard English.
