Job description
Job Purpose: This Specialty Doctor role in Community Paediatrics is to provide a high-quality service supporting Children and Young People to receive assessment, investigation, diagnosis and appropriate support to optimise their quality of life. This role is part of a well-established team of consultants as well as a range of staff, including our specialist Neurodisability Nursing team and Clinical pharmacist. The Doctors work closely with Bridgewater AHP staff, Health Visitors and School Nurses as part of a Community Team working to support families with special needs in Community. The Specialty Doctor will provide assessment, treatment and the management for children with long term neurodevelopmental disorders, including ASD and ADHD, neurodisabling conditions, complex and special educational needs, sensory and physical difficulties, social needs amongst other conditions. It is anticipated that the Specialty Doctor could take on lead role (s) to complement the current roles within the Department and in keeping with their particular interests if possible. The Bridgewater Community Doctors (Halton and Warrington) support each other and meet for shared learning opportunities. As a Specialty Doctor you will have appropriate Secretarial support, IT facilities and office space. Bridgewater uses SystmOne as their patient management system. To participate in the training of Medical Students, Nurses, Therapists, Education and Social Services staff and voluntary groups and other staff as appropriate. To participate in medical and postgraduate training when required by the organisation To undertake safeguarding training at level 3 which will include the training required at levels 1-2. Accountability and Review The Community Paediatric Specialty Doctor is responsible to the Clinical Director in Community Paediatrics and accountable to Bridgewater Medical Director and ultimately to the Trust Board. Appropriate job plans will be reviewed / agreed with the Speciality Doctor on an annual basis by the Clinical Director Terms of Service This post is subject to national terms and conditions of service for Specialty Doctors 2021 Applicants for this post are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1972 and are required to declare prosecutions or convictions including those considered spent under this Act. This is not an exhaustive list of duties, only a general guide to the post. In consultation with the post holder, the duties may change from time to time to reflect the changing needs of the service.
