Airswift is seeking applicants for a BI Developer to join the team in Manchester
Role Description
The BI Developer is responsible for supporting the ongoing development and maintenance of the data warehouse and BI platform in order to deliver data, information and reports to stakeholders at all levels. The BI Developer’s responsibilities will include data warehouse architecture (design, modelling, development), developing robust reporting solutions, managing the data warehouse environment, and supporting the creation and on-going management of the BI training and user materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsibility for the data warehouse and BI architecture to include design, modelling and development.
- Developing robust, reporting solutions, managing data warehouse schemas and supporting the creation and on-going management of the company-wide BI environment
- Act as business analyst in relation to data and reporting, to support the decision-making process with regard to processes, data management, reporting and system improvements, and to aid problem solving
- Translate business needs into technical specifications
- Key responsibility for reporting related to:
- All areas of finance including P&L, Pay/Bill and Company accounts
- Sales and Recruitment
- Develop, deliver and maintain reporting and systems materials for training purposes, working with the L&D department (as appropriate) and utilising appropriate tools such as LMS and SharePoint
- Actively identify opportunities to improve business processes, reporting, data management, data quality with other business stakeholders, to drive out inefficiencies
- Act as project manager to oversee improvement initiatives, system and reporting enhancements, and upgrades, as required
- Ensure data and reporting security, and access, is appropriately controlled across the application landscape in line with IM Security standards
- Deliver business as usual (BAU) tasks in line with defined SLAs, continual service improvements (CSI) as prioritised by systems owners and Projects as defined by IM management and the PMO.
- Provide timely progress and status updates to stakeholders as required ensuring expectation are managed as well as met.
- Work within the ITIL framework of Incident, Problem and Change Management
- Continuous engagement with business process owners to ensure reporting and analytics solutions are and remain fit for purpose, and effectively support global and local business needs
- Remain current on the capabilities and efficiency of our Power BI, Azure and SQL environments. Leveraging updates to drive performance and reporting capabilities.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Experience of working with Financial and Sales data
- A minimum of 3 years in a BI development position
- Datawarehouse (Azure hosted) development experience
- Knowledge and experience of Azure environment (such as Data Lake, Data Factory, Data Warehouse, Managed Instance, Product Catalog, Data Blobs)
- Data visualisation experience essential, Power Bi preferable
- In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework
- Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and/or SSDT (SQL Server Data Tools)
- Development experience of the following: SSMS SSIS SSRS SSAS, IIS, Visual Studio 2012, FTP, CMD, Active Directory, RDP, DNS, Microsoft Office, Windows Server
- Strong SQL skills
- Experience of business analysis, and business process mapping and documentation
- An understanding of finance processes, and working with rolling period financial data and reporting
- Experience of using PowerApps and Logic App (desirable)
