Support Worker – Older People Services
Newcastle, Gosforth
Permanent, Full time (37.5 hpw) Monday to Friday 9am until 5pm, some flexibility may be required at times
Pay £10.90 per hour (£21,314 per annum) and great benefits including Health Cash Plan

As a Support Worker at our Older People Service at Regent Farm Court, you’ll be the face of the service. You will ensure that customers feel at home at all times. You’ll make a big difference each day, getting to know customers, having a natter over a brew or two, or even joining in / arranging activities in the communal areas. Amazing, right!
Typical day as a Support Worker
• Cuppas, chats and catch ups. You will be a pro at your time management skills getting the job done.
• Completing health and safety checks around the communal areas, raising repairs and maintenance as and when.
• Be responsible for any welfare checks, this could be over the phone or by door knock.
• Be the face of the service as you welcome visitors into the service, following set processes.
• You will be accountable to get to know your customers and be a keen collaborator with set activities. For example, bingo, crafts and quiz afternoons.
• Safeguard your customers, ensuring their health, safety and wellbeing is a priority at all times. Sometimes you may need to send an alert when you feel something is not right.
• Helping customers with daily living activities such as budgeting, benefits maximisation and maintaining their tenancy.
• Carrying out risk assessments, support planning, goal setting and regular reviews.

You bring
• Passion to support our customers to live their best life, working together with a keen eye for detail.
• Constantly caring with experience of supporting / helping others. You may have worked in care before or have experience of caring for others such as family members or children.
• The ability to work on your own initiative, remain calm under pressure and have a resilient approach.
• Perfect at prioritisation, being at your best to bring the best for customers.
• Recognise every customer is different and you’re able to adopt a flexible, personal approach, listening to customers to understand their needs

You’ll join Susan and our Older People team, we’re super passionate about what we do! We’re really proud of the way our different services work together to support all our teams. We’re a supportive bunch and like to support each other through Teams and catch ups in each other’s schemes.
Job details
• Customer group - people aged 55 years and above.
• Working at Regent Farm Court, Gosforth.
• Working Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, some flexibility may be required.
• Able to use technology to update support plans, complete essential eLearns and to collaborate with colleagues.
• You’ll need a DBS check done and we will pay for that.
