Job description


This is an exciting time to join the Trusts innovative and dynamic all age Eating Disorders Service which has a national reputation for being at the forefront of service development in eating disorders. This unique service provides treatment and care for individuals of all ages with an eating disorder and their families across the county of Dorset.

We are currently looking for nurses to join the Eating Disorder team.

You will be expected to work with the Ward Manager and the rest of the team to ensure safe clinical practice, delivering the best possible evidence based treatment to the patients and their families who use our service. You will be an RMHN (current NMC registration) and preferably have some experience of working within the eating disorders field. You will work on the inpatient unit and in day programme. You must be a good team worker and also be able to effectively manage and lead as the nurse in charge of the shift. You will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and be resilient in what is a demanding role. You will strive to make a positive difference at work every day.

A rotational shift pattern is in place within the service including days and night.

In return we will support and facilitate your development through clinical and management supervision and an annual appraisal tailored to your needs and experience.

Contribute to the holistic care of patients, assisting their recovery and maintaining clear, accurate written records.

Actively participate in the multi-disciplinary assessment, treatment and evaluation of the care of patients with an eating disorder without direct supervision.

To implement the discharge process to ensure successful outcomes.

Take charge of the inpatient unit regularly and day programme when required in the absence of the Ward Manager and Deputy Ward Manager.

Lead by example, promoting and maintaining professional standards as an individual and as part of the wider team.

Ensuring receipt of clinical and managerial supervision in line with trust policy · To be a clinical supervisor to band 3’s and 4’s within the team.

To arrange the safe keeping of property and valuables.

To help in the inductions of staff and students. · To undergo mentor/preceptor/NVQ assessors training.

To take responsibility for own professional development, · To work within the Clinical Governance framework using outcome measures and clinical audit routinely as a means of evaluating and improving practice.

To be aware of financial constraints in both pay and non-pay areas and co-operate with managers to working within set budgets.

To contribute to health, safety, and security of individuals and their environment and evaluate the risk of harm, abuse and failure to protect.
