Electrical Engineer
Sheffield/Rotherham
£45,000 - £55,000 (Depending on experience)
The role
We are seeking a talented and experienced Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation Engineer to assist with the design and optimization of its Hydrogen production reactor and system. In this role, you will have technical ownership over the electrical design process including microwave reactor, compressors, sensors, valves and other key elements of the production sub-system and integration of these into a compact and efficient containerised system. In particular, we are seeking someone with relevant experience with Hydrogen or similar ATEX applications.
Responsibilities
The Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation Engineer will primarily be responsible for the electrical design of systems. Some specific duties and responsibilities will include:
Assisting other engineers in determining equipment sizing/specifications to supply to vendors.
Helping design and implement control systems to ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment.
Creating electrical drawings for products.
Determining and documenting control requirements in a user requirements specification (URS) which will be handed to a supplier who will implement the PLC.
Liaising with vendors (e.g . systems integrators and PLC programmers).
Advising technicians to help with the electrical fitting of components into the containerised system (e.g. generation of work instructions).
Ensuring designs and built systems/components are compliant with relevant legislation/standards.
Supporting other staff in running equipment (e.g. helping with fault finding, datalogger analysis, evaluation of system performance, etc.)
Assisting with fault-finding and root-cause analysis activities.
Qualifications, experience and skills
Essential requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering (or similar) or 5 years of experience in a related field.
Minimum 5 years working in an engineering design environment.
Experience in relevant software packages for drawing creation and management.
Desirable qualifications/experience:
Previous experience working in a start-up.
Experience generating CE/UKCA files.
Previous experience working with Hydrogen or other flammable gases in an ATEX/Ex environment.
Advising on suitable sensor specifications.
Preferred skills:
Strong problem-solving skills.
Structured/ organised methods of working and file management.
Pragmatic and detail conscious.
Adept at writing concise technical documents.
