Job description
We have a current opportunity for a Assistant Accountant on a temporary basis for a duration of 6 months with our well respected client. The position will be based in Stirling and a hybrid model of work is possible.
Main responsibilities:
- Responsible to an accountant, the post holder will assist in the provision of financial and management accounting services to managers, team leaders and staff within the organisation.
- This will include assisting in the development and implementation of financial and budgetary control systems, performance management frameworks and Service Level Agreements, as well as undertaking detailed monitoring of both capital and Housing Revenue Account (HRA) income and expenditure in accordance with the Financial Regulations.
- The role will also have elements of operational assistance with finance related to matters relating to invoicing, cost coding, Easybuy and budget transformation.
Essential criteria:
- HNC in Accounting or Association of Accounting Technician Qualification (Level 6) or equivalent accounting qualification
- Extended practical experience within a finance environment (2-4 years)
- Experience of financial ledger / accounting systems
- Experience of using spreadsheets and databases
- Knowledge of both online financial management information systems and PC based software
- Knowledge of Housing Service delivery implications
- Demonstrates evidence of analytical skills
- Good numeracy, communication and interpersonal skills
- IT skills with ability to operate MS software such as Words, Excel, Outlook, and any subsequent proprietary systems, etc.
- Undertake all mandatory training for role as directed by Occupational Development and the Service
- Ability to work within a team framework and under own initiative
