Job description

The successful candidate will work to help achieve the goals of the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Service. A key element of the Clinical Fellow role will be assisting in the delivery of inpatient and outpatient care within the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Service. The successful post-holder will have the opportunity to experience multidisciplinary care of the largest Rare Disease Group in Wales - Cystic Fibrosis at the All Wales Adult CF Service and gain multidisciplinary team working experience as well as experience of the wider associated complications of cystic fibrosis. There will be opportunity for involvement in quality improvement projects and an expectation to be involved in Cystic Fibrosis Trials, both commercial and investigator led. The post-holder will show commitment to the delivery of cystic fibrosis patient care in helping to ensure that the best clinical care is delivered in a multidisciplinary team setting to adults attending the Cystic Fibrosis service providing evidence based care. As such the post-holder will contribute in the -: Review of patients in outpatient clinics, including those patients seen on an ad hoc basis at short notice. Inpatient ward duties and ward rounds to include review of and acting upon investigation results and supervising the junior medical team. Comply with the GMC guidance on Good Medical Practice. Help ensure patient admissions run smoothly, efficiently and effectively by encouraging multidisciplinary team working Contribute to the training of junior staff by giving feedback on case presentations, examination techniques and clinical assessments. Carry out teaching duties as required and take an active part in the undergraduate and postgraduate medical education programme and in the teaching of junior staff. Active participation in departmental meetings. Participate in service development and improvement through commitment to clinical governance. Take part in and lead as appropriate, team departmental and regional Quality Improvement projects. The post-holder will be expected to organise and participate in audit both related to clinical and organisational practice. Be involved in departmental research where appropriate. Adhere to all service procedures and protocols and update them as and when necessary through a consultative process.
