Responsibilities
- Ideation and Design:
- Take the lead in conceptualizing and designing innovative products, collaborating closely with the Engineering Manager and Technical Director to align designs with strategic goals.
- Utilize advanced CAD software (such as SolidWorks) to craft detailed, precision-engineered product designs.
- Prototype Development and Testing:
- Supervise the creation of prototypes, coordinating with manufacturing and testing teams.
- Conduct thorough testing and validation of prototypes.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including process engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, quality assurance, and marketing, ensuring alignment with overall project objectives.
- Provide regular updates to managers on project progress, challenges, and proposed solutions.
- Materials and Manufacturing Excellence:
- Evaluate materials and manufacturing processes for optimal performance, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.
- Work with procurement to select cost-effective materials without compromising quality.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all products adhere to industry standards, safety regulations, and certifications.
- Collaborate closely with regulatory affairs teams to secure necessary approvals.
- Cost Optimization:
- Collaborate across departments to identify cost-effective solutions while upholding high-quality standards.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed documentation of design specifications, test results, and project progress.
- Provide regular reports, highlighting key milestones and challenges.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives, contributing ideas to enhance product development processes, reduce time-to-market, and improve overall efficiency.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree/HND in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in product development within the engineering or manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and other relevant design tools.
- Strong grasp of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards and certification processes.
Remuneration
On offer is a salary of up to £50K DOE with additional benefits.
