- #Renewablesjobs The Opportunity As Land & Planning Manager you will be an integral part of the Solar Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Generation Business Unit, situated within the Development Directorate. Your role will be accountable for leading on all planning and consenting development activities for C&I solar projects.Our Solar C&I Generation Team is dedicated to providing onsite energy solutions to large industrial and commercial clients. These projects typically involve the construction and direct integration of energy solutions into client-owned sites, with project sizes generally ranging from 200kWp to 25MWp.Location: This is a hybrid role where will support you to work from home, however, you will be based from one of our offices in London/Durham or Edenbridge. You’ll be great at….As part of the C&I team, and as Planning & Land Manager you will play a pivotal role in development phase of the project lifecycle. Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the land, consenting and community aspects for all C&I solar projects up to planning submission, and provide comprehensive support on such matters for all project phases thereafter.
- Lead on landowner (if applicable), community, council and other potential local stakeholder negotiations and interactions during the development phase and provide comprehensive support on such matters for all project phases thereafter.
- Work closely with the C&I Development Director and wider team to decide project prioritisation/timing and development budget allocation.
- Advise the Director of Sales & Origination on potential consenting risks for early-stage projects within the Origination Phase.
- You’ll be focused on mid stage project development, following securing the opportunity with the C&I client, to facilitate the de-risking of the project and maximise EDFR’s consenting success rate.
- The CEO and leadership team for C&I Solar will have overall responsibility for setting business unit targets and budgets, but the Land & Planning Manager will have a key role to play in shaping those development budgets, and in deciding budget allocations to individual projects.
- Engage proactively in various internal team meetings and committees, actively participating in external stakeholder meetings, while fostering a robust support network within the broader EDF business. Generate and deliver reports as required to keep stakeholders informed.
- Proudly represent EDF Renewables in external meetings, industry bodies, tradeshows, and conventions, reinforcing our presence and reputation.
- Work closely with the wider Project Team to include: engineering; construction; project development managers, to facilitate a smooth project de-risking process within the Development Phase. What do you need to be great at this role? You’ll have experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team whilst retaining budget responsibility for their workstream.
- Experience of sponsoring multiple projects through the development process to consent, including de-risking of the project and project optimisation.
- Experience of managing complex commercial discussions such as negotiations with landowners, third party developers and supply chain negotiations.
- Strong understanding of planning and consenting of energy projects (principally solar) and a strong understanding of the renewable energy UK regulatory environment.
- Preference for experience of consenting behind-the-meter solar projects.
- Ability to manage change in an evolving environment, identifying how the objectives of the organisation define and impact the consenting strategy. Be accustomed to a fast‐paced working environment, acting with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines spanning multiple and complex projects.
- Ability to represent the interests of EDF Renewables UK with senior external stakeholders (government, landowner, suppliers, partners etc.).
- Ability to forge relationships across the organisation and with our shareholders at all levels.
- Ability to deliver and make project or strategy recommendations to executives.
- Flexible to travel around the UK and overseas as the role requires. It is expected that travel to the EDF Renewables office locations of Edenbridge and London, as well as client sites will be necessary.
