Job description

We are currently looking for a talented Junior Technical Designer to join our client, a leading fitout and refurbishment company specialising in education and workspaces from a head office in Colchester. This is a new role created to support the current technical design team and will predominantly involve creating producing models for manufacturing using SolidWorks/SWOOD and AutoCAD.

If you have technical design experience, can demonstrate skill in the use of manufacturing design software including Solidworks/Inventor/Creo or AutoCAD, and enjoy working in a fast-paced, energetic team environment, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role
- Creating manufacturing files using SolidWorks/SWOOD ready for 3rd party factories
- Act as the first point of call for queries from the factories
- Creating technical drawings for the site teams to agreed standards
- Assist with new Product Designs and improving the existing portfolio of products
- Attend project handover meetings when required after a project is secured
- Work with estimating team to provide info to help with costing up the projects in line with the design brief/proposal

You would have opportunities for progression in this role including taking more responsibility at project level, acting as the single contact for projects. You may be expected to attend handover meetings and take project briefs, carrying out site visits to show the construction team how to assemble / install technical products.

The Candidate
You will be a capable individual, results-driven, hard-working and tenacious with experience in the design process of interior fit out. It's essential that you possess the following…
- Experience in a Technical Design role
- Skilled in the use of Solidworks/Inventor/Creo, AutoCAD
- Familiarity with Adobe Suite beneficial
- Excellent communication skills, comfortable working and liaising with clients and colleagues alike
- Fantastic written skills in order to convey a high sense of professionalism to clients
