Food Production Manager

£45k per annum


Our client, a national specialist in the hospitality sector is looking for an experienced Food Production Manager for their site based in Gloucestershire.  The successful candidate will be responsible for running production in the Central Production Unit (CPU), leading the team to ensure high quality products are safely made to specification whilst meeting commercial KPIs.

Reporting to the Head of Support, responsibilities for the role will include:
•    Full ownership of all elements of planning, including product production schedules, people planning (rotas, on shift people section/positions and annual leave planning) and training 
•    Creating an environment & culture where the production kitchen can perform and be productive at the highest possible level  
•    Leading & managing the team through strong, hands-on, visible leadership and applying operational policies & procedures to deliver products of the highest quality 
•    Achieving site productivity, quality, service & commercial objectives, measured through agreed performance indicators
•    Ensuring that the day to day “Food Safety Management System” (FSMS) is completed, monitored and checked 
•    Developing a team of highly engaged people through structured training and development and succession planning 
•    Driving continuous improvement and best practice within the production unit
•    Ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety, Food Safety policies, legislation, and regulations. This includes building a strong local relationship with the local EHO

Essential / Desirable skills include:
•    Production management experience, ideally within a fresh food or “food to go” manufacturing business, however other food manufacturing products will be considered
•    Extensive product and process knowledge, with specific knowledge of master production schedules, costed standards and their application
•    Robust (and demonstrable) understanding of Food Safety, Health & Safety and HACCP
•    Excellent track record of team management and personnel development
•    Demonstrable delivery of KPIs in previous roles
•    Excellent administrative, oral and written communication skills
•    Computer and systems literate with strong Excel skills
•    Appreciation and understanding of working as part of a SME, close-knit team
•    Adaptable and flexible with the needs of a reactive hospitality business

The site operates 24/7, 365 days per year, with 2 Production Shifts covering 5am – 11pm.  It is anticipated that the working hours for the role will be 40 hours per week working 5 out of 7 days, with flexibility to manage teams on both shifts. The salary is £45k per annum plus an excellent benefits package.
