Specsavers in Okehampton are looking for a forward-thinking Optometrist to join their team on a 6 month fixed term contract. We recognise that our people are the key to our success. That’s why, at Specsavers in Okehampton, we do everything we can to ensure our team get the best from us too – from market-leading training, access to cutting-edge technology and a personal development plan built around you. We’d love for you to become our next Optometrist at Specsavers in Okehampton – a highly successful store with a great reputation for staff progression and unparalleled support.
About Specsavers:
Specsavers began 40 years ago with the vision of two optometrists, Doug, and Mary Perkins, who set out to provide best-value eyecare to everybody. Their passion for optometry has led Specsavers to become the largest privately-owned optical group in the world, delivering high-quality, affordable optical and hearing care. And it continues to shape the lives and experience of thousands of colleagues who are developing their careers with us across the globe. We are proud of how far we’ve come as a business, now we want to see you grow with us too.
What’s on Offer?
Nestled on the edge of glorious Dartmoor National Park you will find the small and friendly town of Okehampton. Here you will work alongside three experienced Optometrists, and we employ three Dispensing Opticians. We have 3 fully equipped test rooms with phoropters, and OCT, and we participate in several post-cataract EOS schemes. We have an excellent relationship with the local Ophthalmologists and all our Optometrists are WOPEC accredited in several subjects. Our shop fit is to be completed this March.
There is a regular train service to the Cathedral City of Exeter, where you can find all the brand name shops, restaurants, theatres, and night life. From Exeter several trains leave for London every day, including some fast trains to Paddington. The nearest airport is Exeter, and you can get the bus to the nearby market town of Tavistock, where you will find more local independent shops.
Dartmoor is loved by walkers for its beautiful moorland scenery, and the famous Fistral Beach at Newquay is popular for surfing. There are many more spectacular Cornish beaches within easy reach, and the outstanding south Devon coastline of the English Riviera, with its seaside resorts and picturesque villages is also close by. There are so many other outdoor activities to choose from, such as cycling along dedicated cycle tracks, stand up paddleboarding, dinghy sailing and gig rowing, to name but a few. For rainy days Okehampton has a three-screen cinema which shows many of the latest releases.
What we’re looking for
Alongside being a qualified and GOC registered Optometrist, we are searching for someone who shares our store’s ethos. Someone who wants to grow, develop and offer exceptional customer care along the way. We’d like a practitioner who prides themselves on their clinical judgment, that isn’t afraid of a hands-on approach and who is keen to get involved and build rapport with the rest of the team. In summary, we’re looking for a skilled resident Optometrist to join us and be part of the family!
