Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor external payroll service companies to ensure accurate and timely payroll processes.
- Advise HR team members about taxes and employment laws across multiple states
- Calculate wage increments, overtime payments, and public holiday pay.
- As necessary, issue checks or bank transfers for employee payments.
- Analyze and report on payroll data to ensure it is accurate and in accordance with state and federal laws.
- Audit the payroll to make sure it satisfies our internal control procedures and Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
- Develop and refine payroll procedures.
- Assist with the recruiting function by supporting interviews and helping hire qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Assist with new hire orientation and employee recognition/engagement programs.
- Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale.
- Escalate employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in payroll management
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 5 years + of payroll experience required
- 3 years + of Human Resources experience at a generalist level
- Experience in a manufacturing facility a plus
- Comprehensive understanding of tax and payroll laws required
- Mathematics for calculating taxes and employee wages
- Computer literacy in using Microsoft Office suite and payroll software
- Deductive reasoning for analyzing raw payroll data and using it to develop and refine payroll policies
- Experience with HRIS programs a plus
- Written and verbal communication, including active listening and report writing.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Arts/Humanities, Human Resources, Business Management, or Administration
- Advanced certification in human resources and/or payroll administration.
