The role 👩👨 

We are recruiting a Finance Associate. 

We are seeking a Finance Associate to play a pivotal role in the finance department, supporting in the daily operations of our financial function. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage directly with foundational financial activities and work closely with the finance leadership. 

The ideal candidate will have a background in accounting and finance operations, with experience or a strong interest in technology in data. 

You should have ability to manage financial tasks, from ledger management to accurate bookkeeping, showcasing a keen eye for precision to ensure the integrity of financial data. Prior exposure to financial analysis and working within a finance team, potentially acquired in industry or an accountancy practice, are a must, as would an operational and problem-solving mindset.

What you will be doing ⚙️

Day-to-day finance management 

• Day-to-day management of the finance operations. 
• Overseeing the bookkeeping function and providing guidance as necessary to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records. 
• Full responsibility for the ledger, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded from the outset to facilitate reliable reporting and support to the team. 
• Completing manual journal entries at week and month ends to maintain precise financial records. 
• Conducting balance sheet reconciliations to verify the accuracy of accounting information. 
• Supporting VAT compliance efforts across various jurisdictions, contributing to the company's adherence to fiscal regulations. 

• Providing operational support by collaborating with the operations team on dunning and vendor management, enhancing financial and operational efficiency.

Improvement and automation 

• Automating and streamlining financial processes using data and technology, ensuring data accuracy and integrity. 
• Liaising with the software development team to provide feedback and requirements for financial systems and tools. 
• Developing and maintaining financial dashboards and reports, providing insights and recommendations to senior management. 
• Implementing and improving internal controls and policies, complying with accounting standards and best practices. 

Requirements

• 3 to 4 years of experience working in accountancy or a finance function.
• High degree of proficiency in bookkeeping and accounting, including ability to prepare journal entries and understanding of debits and credits.
• Solid knowledge of accounting standards.
• Strong knowledge of Excel, understanding of relational databases and SQL 
• A can-do, no excuses attitude. 
• A love of lean, well-oiled processes.
• High motivation to join an early stage, high growth business. 
• The ability to work from our central London office location 4-5 days per week (with the flexibility to WFH when needed). 
• An interest in software technology, and pharma.
