Job responsibilities of a Computer Science teacher in a secondary school: - Curriculum Development: Computer science teachers will be responsible for developing and updating the curriculum for their courses. This includes designing lesson plans, selecting appropriate textbooks and learning resources, and ensuring that the curriculum aligns with the latest educational standards and industry trends.
- Classroom Instruction: Must deliver engaging and effective computer science lessons to secondary school students. This involves explaining complex concepts, demonstrating programming languages, and facilitating hands-on activities to help students grasp the fundamentals of computer science.
- Student Assessment : Must evaluate student performance through assignments, quizzes, exams, and projects. They provide constructive feedback to help students improve their skills and maintain accurate records of grades and progress.
- Technical Support: Must assist with troubleshooting software or hardware issues and guide students in using programming tools and software effectively.
- Extracurricular Activities: Must oversee or support extracurricular activities related to computer science, such as coding clubs or robotics teams. These activities help students explore their interests and develop their skills further.
The successful candidate for the Computer Science Teacher role will possess: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Teaching certification or qualification (e.g. PGCE, QTS) for secondary school
- Prior experience teaching Science to secondary school students.
- Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment methods.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
