Join a growing Engineering Team as Senior Project Engineer for our oil and gas manufacturing company client. This is a permanent staff position based in Nigg, Aberdeen.
Reporting to the Project Engineering Team Lead, as the Senior Project Engineer you will have the following main duties and responsibilities:
- Providing high level project engineering technical support to all customers and suppliers, whether internal or external, whether during tender, project execution or aftermarket phase of work scope.
- Providing support and assistance to team members as required, to develop own and other skills and knowledge.
- Driving forward engineering scope on assigned projects and reporting progress to Project team throughout.
- Actively progressing assigned projects from concept to completion where size of project has dictated sole project engineering control.
- Assisting with preparation of quotations for client submission with awareness and input into cost, time and resourcing.
- Preparing, checking and approving drawings, documents, reports, technical notes and calculations ensuring that they meet the project requirements and technical standards where appropriate.
- Analysing designs by hand calculations and/or FEA.
- Documentation and part number control.
- Design for manufacture: liaising with Production Department during design phase to ensure manufacturability of product and ensure manufacturing method meets project specifications, and still be cost effective.
- Actively supporting teamwork within the Project Team, and the wider project department.
- Liaising with the customer, sub-contractors and vendors throughout the duration of each project.
- Attending/leading client and internal design reviews.
- Attending assembly trials.
- Planning and attending testing.
- Attending SIT.
- Attending client interface meetings.
- Translating client requirements into practical terms that can be implemented.
- Prioritising and organising tasks.
- Identifying problems and developing solutions and ensuring solutions are implemented.
- Providing technical support to the customer and company Offshore Team during mobilisation, installation and commissioning phases.
- Ensuring all QA and departmental procedures and policies are implemented and adhered to in order to maintain the quality standard BS EN ISO 9001:2008.
Key Experience/Qualifications:
- Candidates should be degree qualified.
- Extensive experience in a Manufacturing Environment required.
- Experience in offshore wind turbine structures would be a distinct advantage.
- Strong design background would be highly preferred.
