Job description

SEN Support Workers, BN6 Ditchling. A fantastic opportunity to support on a 2 -1 basis, a fabulous young person, 18 years old who has Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy. Weekdays, £16.00 gross per hour, Weekends £18.00 gross per hour and Bank Holidays, £20.00 gross hour

Nearest Tube/Station: Hassocks but will need own car as too far to walk from station
Wage/Salary: Weekdays, £16.00 gross per hour, Weekends £18.00 gross per hour and Bank Holidays, £20.00 gross hour
Driver Essential? Yes, and must have own car due to the location. Automatic adapted car whilst on duty.
Essential: Up to two years experience, supporting young adults with physical disabilities and complex medical needs. This role is open to *female applicants only. DBS or happy to obtain one.
Start Date: ASAP

About this client/child: Sarah (18) is a rather wonderful, young lady who thrives with people interacting with her in a fun and bubbly manner. When Sarah is happy, she will give big smiles. Sarah and her younger sister (Kate) have a strong, loving bond. Kate always comes to hang out or give her big sis a hug in the morning. When Sarah is at home she likes/ needs to have quiet time, either listening to music, watching some Telly or being given a massage using her favorite essential oils. Sarah has a lovely fully adapted bedroom to hang out in before she does her stretches, personal care and gets ready for bed. Sarah is nonverbal, has cerebral palsy, epilepsy, a visual impairment, and a PEG in-situ. She is dependent on others to help her with all activities and daily living.

Overview of role: Your role will be to provide 2-1 experienced support to Sarah in all aspects of her care, and medical needs (personal care, administering medication, PEG feed, therapy programmes, manual handling). Sarah loves being taken out and about, where she can interact with people her own age, so you must be a confident driver. Before accompanying her to school you will assist Sarah’s step mum or dad in getting Sarah up and ready. (More information given at interview stage) There may also be the opportunity to travel with the family to support Sarah on her summer holidays - valid Passport, please! The rota is completed 4 weeks in advance, a mixture of long days, and weekends are available: 07.00 am to 7.00 pm

You will also bring sensibility; the ability to read the situation and Sarah’s wants, to step up, and step back. This position will suit a responsible, flexible, patient, and warm *female support worker. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated person to develop existing skills, and support this very special young lady.
