What you will do in your working day
We are looking to recruit a Business Administration Apprentice to support delivery of the day today tasks of the Bereavement Services Team.
The job role will include:
- Raise orders, process invoices and take payments using the Council’s financial management systems
- Undertake general administrative tasks such as telephone enquiries, letters and emails and provide support to all staff within the Bereavement Services Team as directed by the Team Leader for Bereavement Services
- Ensure all departmental records both electronic and paper are kept up to date and recorded accurately to ensure legal compliance at all times
- Support bereaved families who wish to purchase memorials or arrange funerals, deal with telephone or email enquiries, liaise with suppliers etc. maintaining a high quality and efficient service at all times
- Work in the chapel at Norse Road supporting the delivery of funeral services in line with internal procedures and family wishes
- Participate in the regular inspection and testing of memorial headstones in close churchyards managed by the Council
- Undertake any other tasks specified by Team Leader Bereavement Services
The training you will be getting
Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship Standard:
- Apprenticeship training will be through a blended approach, in your workplace and our training providers premises
- Training on data entry using the services bespoke software system to ensure legislative compliance
- Training on Council financial systems and processes
- Experience of working with other departments/services/third party companies/contractors
- Experience of the wider bereavement industry
- Training on the inspection and testing of the safety of headstones in closed churchyards managed by the Council

- Successful completion of the apprenticeship will enable the post holder to apply for job opportunities in the private sector or other public sector bodies
