About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Category Manager to provide Procurement and Management services to  Advantage South West (ASW) as part of the LiveWest Procurement team.  ASW are a Procurement group owned by South West Housing Associations, creating better outcomes for social housing through collaborative working. 

On a day to day basis, you will be responsible for the optimal performance of Procurement and supply chains and provide a comprehensive and professional Procurement service to a wide variety of ASW stakeholders.

You will provide strategic leadership, business planning, relationship management and operational management to achieve ASW's purpose of “improving homes and lives through collaboration and integration,” including day to day project management and delivery of their business plan.

You will source the right commercial solutions, confidently apply, and interpret the relevant Procurement regulations and applicable legislation to award and manage successful frameworks and contracts to support the requirements ASW members. Through building and managing effective supply chains, reducing organisational risk, and developing ASW’s supply chain function, you will clearly demonstrate exceptional value for money and strategic alignment. As a Procurement professional and skilled people manager, you will advise, develop, line manage and inspire colleagues within and outside the procurement function. 

This role is being offered on a full time, permanent basis and will be based in our Exeter office. A hybrid working style is an option.

About The Candidate

To be considered for the role of Category Manager - Advantage South West (ASW) Services, you will have the skills, knowledge, and experience required for a Level 3 - Manager/Specialist role, along with the below role specific requirements:-

• Strategic sourcing and category management. (incl. high value, complex regulated tenders)
• Housing sector experience. (D)
• Supply chain risk management.
• Contract/ Supplier performance management.
• Supplier relationship management.
• Good working knowledge of relevant procurement and contract law and guidance including Public Contract Regulations, Supply of Goods and Services Act, Public Services. (Social Value Act, Procurement Act, consultation requirements under Leasehold Act, Procurement Policy Notes)
• Material supply and management models.
• Cost analysis and breakdown models.
• Supply / works contract drafting. (heads of terms, variations)
• Ability to negotiate contract terms.
• Supply chain mapping and rationalisation.
• Vendor management processes.
• Stakeholder management - building effective relationships.
• Procurement / Supply Chain Digitalisation and IT Systems.
• Policy and process development.
• Project Management. e.g., Agile, Prince 2.
• Lean methodologies, Business Process Reengineering, Six Sigma etc.
• Sustainable Sourcing Principles /Ethical Sourcing.
• Experience in leading and managing a team.
