Description:
Please note: in line with UCB policy, this role is VDI only. UCB will not be providing a laptop or equipment. From a future date to be confirmed (mid-2025), the Company office premises will move to Windlesham, Surrey, GU20 6PP and from that date, will replace the current Company office premises at Slough.
Responsibilities:
* Working with project teams, develop and design assays that reflect the biology of the target.
* Using a range of scientific competencies, develop relevant assays for: screening, function; mechanism; target validation as appropriate.
* Ability to analyse, interrogate data and troubleshoot technical issues.
* Using excellent communication and team working abilities, disseminate high quality data for wider review in reporting and visualisation environments.
* Present experimental data at cross-functional meetings and external conferences.
* Maintain compliant procedures by completing training modules and maintaining experimental records.
* Aim to publish work in high impact scientific journals and in patents.
* Display awareness of published literature and externally available platforms and technologies.
* Depending upon experience, contribute to the development and incorporation of new technologies and/or techniques and mentoring/training of other scientists.
* For in vivo roles, hold a personal licence and be compliant with appropriate legislation.
* If your role requires use of or is related to human tissue then you are required to comply with HTA regulations, ensuring that relevant training is up-to-date and that you have read and understood the HTA Policies and Procedures Manual.
* Maintain Health & Safety awareness to ensure safe working practices for our staff and contractors.
* Apply experience with relevant technologies and associated software packages, including but not limited to: high-throughput and high-content platforms; automation and liquid handling; cytometry; imaging; histology; immunoassays; and relevant molecular biology techniques.
* Depending on the requirements of the specified assay, working with primary human cells and tissues, including complying with HTA guidelines.
* Comply with guidelines relating to data capture, monitoring and sharing, including but not limited to Biobook and Abase templates, the Antibody Data Mart and Spotfire.
* For in vivo roles, being competent and skilled in performing techniques associated with relevant in vivo models of disease
* Gathering and Interpreting Information - uses quantitative and qualitative methods to obtain relevant information about stakeholders needs, motivations and behaviours in order to contribute to the generation of insights. Manages the process and/or teams to produce a deep understanding of stakeholders and/or patients' needs
Experience
* Cell Culture. Primary Human Cell Assays
* Defining the pathway for drug discovery
Essential Skills:
* Lab based work drug discovery.
* Flow cytometry, functional cell based assays isolating PVMC's adhering to tissue Act guidelines.
* Exp in T celltech MSD Elis Spot.
* Primary cell culture is key with immunology.
Education requirements:
* PhD or equivalent BA plus 4 years.
* Understanding experimental design to make sure all controls are in place.
* Would be helpful to have an immunology background, biochemistry, pharmacology.
