Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Linux)
£45,000 to £55,000

What you'll be doing:
Join our Service Operations team to actively manage and troubleshoot a variety of technologies in an enterprise environment. As the technical lead for Linux and open-source technologies, you'll play a crucial role in mentoring colleagues and acting as an escalation point for the support team. This position requires a high degree of independence and experience in wider technology aspects.
Responsibilities:

Act as a technical lead, mentoring and creating knowledge items.

Support and troubleshoot technologies across the entire stack.

Investigate opportunities for improvement in efficiency and effectiveness.

Contribute to project work, system implementations, and represent the Service Operations team in customer-facing interactions.

Resolve reported faults within defined SLAs and develop capacity guidelines for storage infrastructure.

Provide capacity and performance forecasting and reports.

Deploy standard and complex changes to customers' infrastructures and develop technical procedures for the Service Operations team.

Provide standby cover and out-of-hours services as per an on-call rota.

Essential Skills:

Linux (RHEL6 onwards or CentOS/Rocky/Alma/Oracle equivalents)

Automation platforms (e.g., Ansible Automation Platform)

VMware ESX and vCenter in a clustered environment

Must be able to hold Security Clearance at a minimum of SC level

Advantageous Experience:

Windows Server 2016/19 AD environment

Storage technologies (Dell EMC VNX, Unity)

Backup methodologies and products (Veeam B&R 11+, EMC Networker 19+, DataDomain)

Integration with public cloud services (e.g., Azure, AWS, O365)

Database technologies (MSSQL, MySQL etc)

IT Service Management toolsets

Security assurance products (device control, antivirus solutions, MDM etc)
