Job description
What you will do in your working day
The Fourth Room is a local gardening company specialising in professional high-quality gardening services to the private sector.
Working with the team leader the successful candidate will carry out all the tasks required for sound horticultural garden maintenance including
- Identification and cultivation of trees, shrubs and hardy perennials
- Operating a range of machinery for grass cutting, hedge trimming, etc
- Carrying out seasonal tasks including planting, division, pruning, weed identification and removal
- Turf Management & Lawn Care
- General Property Maintenance
The training you will be getting
- The candidate will be expected to attend Day Release at Berkshire College of Agriculture, Burchetts Green, Maindenhead, SL6 6QR, where they will study for two years which, combined with their on the job learning, they will achieve a Level 2 Horticultural Operative Qualification
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
- Depending on skills and aptitude, upon succesful completion of the apprenticeship the candidate can expect to extend their experience as a fully employed gardener for further 12 - 24 months
At this point, with the option for additional funded study the apprentice can expect to become:
- Team Leader
- Garden Designer
- Landscape Specialist
- Run own company/Franchise
