Job description

ACS International Schools is looking for an experienced Librarian to organise and support opportunities for research and project-based learning across ACS Hillingdon Upper School.

The Librarian will collaborate with other members of the learning community to facilitate and support the school curriculum and inspire a love of reading in our students.

ACS Hillingdon’s 11-acre campus is less than 14 miles from central London, enabling students to benefit from opportunities in both the city and countryside. Our magnificent Greater London campus has outstanding facilities, and a wealth of history, art and culture right on its doorstep.

Key responsibilities and duties:

·      Plan and implement clearly stated long- & short-term goals as part of the school’s strategic and developmental plans.

·      Review the current collection ensuring there is suitable Diversity, Equity and Inclusion within the school’s library catalogue.

·      Develop an inspiring library media centre conducive to a variety of instructional programmes and independent learning activities.

·      Supervise students using the library for independent study and maintain a welcoming, supportive atmosphere conducive to learning.

·      Promote library programmes and services through a variety of channels.

·      Select, acquire, organise and promote Library resources, both physical & online, to support teaching and learning throughout the school, following recognised professional standards.

·      Utilise new and emerging technology within the library.

·      Create online learning links for teachers and students and keep these up to date as the curriculum is revised and new links become available.

·      Develop library policies, e.g., collection development, circulation, challenged materials, copyright

·      Recruit, train and supervise support staff and volunteers.

Knowledge, skills, and experience required:

·      Bachelor's degree/Bachelor of Education

·      A teaching qualification (PGCE/QTS/Teaching licence/certification or equivalent)

·      2 or more years of post qualifying teaching experience to relevant age groups

·      Strong IT skills, preferably with Apple products

·      Demonstrates consistently high standards of personal and professional conduct

·      Fluent in English both verbal and written

·      Significant experience and willingness to integrate technology to improve teaching and learning

·      Experience of teaching in an international school is desirable but not essential.

Working Hours : Monday- Friday 08.30-16.30, term time only.
