An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist in the GI Oncology Unit. The post holder has a distinct level of responsibility to patients with Upper& Lower G.I tumours in providing a comprehensive specialist nursing service to the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, working within a team of advanced practice nurses.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and experienced, who enjoys patient contact and working in a multi-disciplinary environment to support the delivery of a quality service. You must be able to demonstrate good communication skills, flexibility, reliability and have an organised approach to work.
Due to the nature of the role, we are looking for a dependable and highly adaptable individual who is able to work independently and has the ability to fit in quickly as part of a team.
The post holder is responsible for providing a comprehensive and high-quality cancer nursing service to the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. They will lead and provide advanced nursing care to patients with cancer, with particular responsibility for enhancing the patient experience of cancer treatment, ensuring continuity of care and influencing patient pathways. The post holder will be a clinical expert, sound educator, committed researcher and proficient leader.
The post holder has a distinct level of responsibility to patients being treated with SACT and radiotherapy with G.I tumours in providing a comprehensive specialist nursing service to the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, working within a team of advanced practice nurses. The post holder will work in conjunction with the existing Clinical Nurse Specialist and provide advanced nursing care to women and men with local and advanced G.I tumours.

• To sustain a high quality specialist service for the patient, from diagnosis through all stages of the disease and actively provide optimum liaison and continuity of care.
• In collaboration with the existing Clinical Nurse Specialists, to formulate and/or revise relevant policies and to regularly review these following change/implementation. To work within the procedures and policies of the Trust.
• In conjunction with the Clinical Nurse Specialists, to develop assessment tools that will ensure an appropriate level of nursing intervention so that patients with complex needs are referred to the appropriate specialist/s.
