Job description
Mechanical / Electrical Project Engineer qualified to at least HNC level or higher with experience in the manufacturing sector (ideally food, pharma or packaging sector) required for a permanent position in the Knutsford / Warrington area. Salary for this role is £40,000 – £45,000pa (DoE) plus excellent benefits. The basic working week is 37.5 hours (8am-4:30pm Mon-Fri)

Purpose of the Job:
Ensuring that Customers’ expectations are clearly and consistently communicated to the business, and that colleagues are clear on the technical elements of a project so agreed requirements are delivered to planned timescales. Timely and accurate completion of specifications for machinery, and tools, and testing and validation of equipment against these documents.
Duties include:
- Manage projects for the range of company’s machines
- Report to the Project Manager and liaise with Sales Engineer to assist in the creation of an initial proposal drawing of the customers requirements
- On receipt of customer order placed by Global Distribution Network within the RoW territories, liaise with distributor to clarify, modify and finalise proposal before issuing details to Sales Engineer so that any changes can be quoted for accordingly.
- Prepare detailed Machine and Tool specification with samples and proposal drawing to be forwarded to the Design Department
- Produce Gantt Chart to ensure agreed delivery date of the project
- Upon completion of machine build carryout a full PDI. Rectifying any arising faults.
- organise delivery of project, oversee installation of machines on customer’s site and carry out any training required for client’s operatives
- Maintain contact with Global Distribution Network at all stages and resolve situations quickly and efficiently.
- Ensure that Machine Specification and Company’s machine/line drawing are signed off by the customer and a scanned copy of these records is saved in the relevant Customer folder on the server.
- Maintain electronic project files and follow internal procedures for handling /processing documentation; paper copies of documents should be used only when necessary and scanned onto the server as soon as feasible.
To be suitable for this Project Engineer role you must have the following experience / characteristics:
- HNC or higher engineering qualification (Mechanical or Electrical)
- Project management experience
- Previous manufacturing experience
- Excellent computer Literacy, MS Office, MS Teams, Zoom etc.
- Prior experience of using MS Project and AutoCAD 2D
- Excellent problem-solving skills, logical and be able to communicate at all levels
- Strong customer focus and experience of dealing with clients face to face & by telephone
- Self motivated, good organisational skills and attentive to details
- Full UK driving licence, able to travel / work away from home occasionally, sometimes at short notice.
The ideal Mechanical Project Engineer will have experience / skills / characteristics:
- Qualification in Project Management.
- Multi-skilled in both electrical and mechanical engineering.
- Knowledge of food industry and or packaging equipment.
- AutoCAD 3D, Creo, S2B-online, Salesforce, Syspro, Monday.com (all desirable, not essential),
- Excellent people management skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate.
- First Aid, Fire Warden trained
