Job description
Veterinary Surgeon, Full or Part-time flexible hours, salary up to £60k, consult-only role considered, no OOHs, 1 in 4 Saturdays.
Our dedicated and friendly team are looking for a Vet to join them in a role that offers flexibility, can be tailored towards a consult bias and will give you the time in your day to work up cases and provide the high level of patient and client care we have become known for locally.
With the added attraction of no out-of-hours and no Sundays, this position can be flexed around what is important to you. Our working patterns are mouldable, be it around childcare, study, certificate time or wellbeing and we acknowledge and respect everyone is individual and their needs will vary. We do ask that you join our 1in 4 Saturday rota (9-12.30pm), something that the whole team is a part of.
The practice is well established and has been owned by Vet Katherine Goldsborough for 14 years bringing a wide variety of interesting medical and surgical cases, some of which still surprise us. We have the usual day to day diagnostics and a good range of orthopaedic equipment and look to keep surgical cases in-house where appropriate. Your working day will have time built in for admin and prescriptions as well as breaks - time that is often missed off from traditional ways of working, but paramount in being part of what is needed to provide the clinical care and service that is needed by today’s clients.
A high proportion of our clients are insured, and we also offer financial assistance via Klarna & Omnicapital as well as having a PDSA local to eligible clients. For any cases that we aren’t keeping in-house we are spoilt with 3 world class referral centres within an hour’s drive for our clients. We have an excellent rapport with these hospitals who are happy to provide advice on cases where needed and we welcome a visiting ultrasonographer who provides training as well as an imagine service.
In practice team meetings form an excellent basis for case discussion and we really encourage ongoing learning and sharing of experience and ideas. We also have two practice Whatsapp groups - a gratitude group and a general discussion group. We also have two Mental Health First Aiders in our team.
This position would suit a recent graduate or experience Vet who is happy with routine consults and surgery and is looking to build on their knowledge in a busy but well-organised general practice. If you would prefer a consult-only role we can support this.
