Job Type: Part Time, Permanent
Location: Lewes, North Chailey
Salary: £17,550 - £19,187.39 per annum.

The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Education department for an Aquatics Assistant. This is an exciting role for the charity and offers the opportunity to make a real impact and difference for the young children and adults. The Aquatics Assistant will be responsible for providing the highest standards of delivery, care and safety at all times, liaising with staff who use the Aquatics facilities, offering support and instruction to all age groups and different needs of young people, of all standards and ability. You will be assisting with the delivery of Aquatics programmes and sessions as part of the school day whilst supporting young people to achieve their potential and curriculum objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- To support the supervisory team in the effective operation of the Hydrotherapy Pool on day-to-day basis.
- To provide the highest standards of delivery, care and safety at all times in accordance with the policies, procedures and systems, supporting the organisation in achieving its aims and objectives.
- Under the direction of the Aquatics Manager and Aquatics Supervisors liaise with staff within CHF who uses the facilities.
- To offer support and instruction to all age groups and different needs of Young People (YP) of all standards and ability.
- To facilitate the delivery of Aquatics programmes (written and produced by the physiotherapy team at Chailey Heritage Clinical Services) and Aquatics sessions as part of the school day. Supporting YP to achieve their potential and deliver Aquatic Curriculum objectives.
Skills & Qualifications
- Swimming ability and appropriate level of fitness required to maintain the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification:
- Jump/dive into deep water.
- Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds
- Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water
- Tread water for 30 seconds.
- Surface dive to the floor of the pool.
- Climb out unaided without ladder/steps and where the pool design permits.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Good Communication skills
- A passion for aquatics and supporting young people and adults.
- Teaching/Coaching experience (D).
- National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.
- ASA/STA Level 1 or 2 Teaching Aquatics.
- Previous leisure industry experience.
- Good awareness of Health & Safety issues.
