Fostering Panel Advisor

Job description

Newcastle City Council are looking to recruit a dynamic Fostering Panel Advisor. The role of the panel advisor includes providing professional, regulatory, and procedural advice to the fostering panel and the wider workforce. The panel advisor ensures that arrangements for panel are coordinated in advance and that the panel meetings run smoothly. The panel advisor uses feedback from the panel members and panel attendees to help develop practice, improve performance, and assist with service development. Part of the advisor’s role is to ensure the service complies with statutory requirements and regulations against which it is inspected.

For this exciting opportunity, you must possess a recognised social work degree and be registered with Social Work England.  You must have direct experience of working in a fostering, adoption or child and family work setting and it is an advantage if you have acted in a managerial capacity. You must have experience of quality assuring processes and practice development in a social work context. 
The panel advisor is responsible for ensuring that appropriately experienced and qualified panel members are recruited and inducted and that they receive training, mentoring and annual appraisals as required.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.
