This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive and inclusive team within Strategic Finance at Companies House. You will play a key role in the financial management and influencing the strategic direction of the organisation.
We are looking for a Financial Planning & Analysis Manager to be a key member of a newly formed Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function as part of our Strategic Finance Team.
The Financial Planning & Analysis team is an essential part of the finance directorate and play an important role in supporting and enabling the ambitious transformation plans of Companies House.
There is a strong culture within the strategic finance teams to provide training, mentoring and opportunities to develop, ensuring we support you to maximise your development and to reach your full potential. Use of new technologies such as Alteryx and Power BI has seen the team win public sector and national finance awards for advancement in automation, analytics and reporting, which has created time for the team to focus on adding organisational value. The team have recently won Public Sector Team 2023 and Rising Star of the Year 2023 at Finance Awards Wales.

You’ll have the opportunity to use your experience in finance and accounting through your involvement in a wide breadth of work at the heart of our long-term planning and decision-making processes. You will be using cutting edge data tools on a day to day basis, such as Alteryx and Power BI, to develop and maintain financial models which support projects in ensuring investment decisions are driving value for the taxpayer.
As a member of the Finance & Commercial Directorate, you’ll be part of a supportive team focused on continuous improvement, training and development to support your progression and ensure as a team, we’re fit for the future.
You will have a key role in supporting the development and maintenance of medium to long-term financial models, working with colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation and our parent department, to ensure the sustainable funding of Companies House. This includes the review of Companies House fees and Spending Review bids, building upon our funding model which uses activity-based costing methodology.
You will identify risks and opportunities for our medium to long-term funding, taking mitigating actions where required and providing challenge as appropriate. You will have commercial acumen and be able to operate within a potential environment of ambiguity and uncertainty.
Working with a range of experts across the organisation, you will analysis our financial and non-financial datasets to gain fresh insights and understand cost to aid you in the production of detailed financial models. Using an iterative financial modelling process using cutting edge software (such as Alteryx) to automate and provide consistency across the modelling process, you will support projects in the development of their business cases. You will also provide expert advice on the risks presented within the financial model, data inputs and assumptions.
You will also produce affordability analysis alongside should cost modelling for our largest and most complex procurements, ensuring compliance with the Green Book best practice, Managing Public Money and other relevant HM Treasury guidance. This includes identifying budgeting and accounting treatments and to advise on the long-term financial impacts of delivering proposed solutions. You will support the business by building relationships with key stakeholders to challenge and influence decision making through expert analysis and interpretation of strategic goals.
