Job description
Job Purpose
The Site and Operations Manager role is split into the key areas of safety, people, core operations, budgets and strategy. Essentially the job holder leads the site team to manufacture sufficient quantities of quality products with outputs and efficiencies affected by minimum disruption and downtime and production at or below budgeted costs to meet market demand.
Reports
This role has responsibility for leading and managing direct reports across multiple functions. The job holder will also be effective at communicating and collaborating with other functional leaders, stakeholders, off-site managers, regulatory and legislative control agencies, as well as working relationships with other business sites. The post-holder has overall management responsibility for the safety of all employees and contractors.
Principal Accountabilities
Long term, strategic leadership of the site, aligned to overall business expectations.
1. Environment, Health & Safety
- Accountable for Environmental, Health and Safety compliance.
- Accountable for site EHS performance.
- Reporting of site safety metrics and incidents.
- Safety communications.
- Safety audits compliance.
- Site safety improvement plan delivery.
2. Production performance
- Accountable for site production performance v’s key metrics for polymer plant and film plant.
- Delivery of efficiency and productivity to match Variable Cost plan
- Accountable for site productivity improvement plan delivery.
3. Budgets/costs
- Accountable for agreeing site Fixed Cost budget
- Accountable for site Fixed Cost performance v’s budget/target.
- Accountable for site capital budget
- Accountable for delivery of site Fixed Cost improvement plan.
4. People Leadership and Development
- Development and delivery on people development and training plans
- Managing Industrial & employee relations
- Collective bargaining process for SA91 group.
- Plant & Safety committee/employee forum.
- Maintaining and improving site relations with the local community
5. Key review processes
- Dumfries site leadership team.
- Dumfries MIT (margin improvement team).
- Site performance review.
- Safety managers meeting.
- Capital review meeting.
- Communications meeting.
- DTF EU business review.
- Demand and S&OP review.
- Fixed costs OL review
Knowledge/Experience/Skills
- Knowledge and experience of focussing on safety in all aspects of work.

- Practical knowledge of budgeting and cash-flow regulation.
