Description
CHL Mortgages for Intermediaries is looking to bring on board an experienced Mortgage Underwriter to join their expanding team. The Mortgage Underwriter will assess the risk of each mortgage application and produce a mortgage offer to lay down the conditions of the loan.
The role will be based in our Fleet head office and the current team work on a hybrid basis 2/3 days in the office and the rest at home. We would expect full time office attendance for at least the first month for training.
You must have the right to work in the UK. Any candidates that requires VISA Sponsorship in the future please be aware that CHL doesn't currently offer sponsorship and has no plans to in the future, so your application should take that into consideration. Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite mortgage applications on behalf of specific customer(s) within CHL lending criteria and policy, within the approved lending mandate.
- Assess the commercial risk of mortgage applications and make recommendations on cases outside of current lending criteria.
- Discuss potential applications and give agreement in principle
- Build relationships with Introducers through verbal and written communications.
- Build relationships internally within the Lending and Sales Teams.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Experience of working in Financial Services.
- Current or recent mandated mortgage underwriting experience or equivalent.
- Strong decision making and organisation skills. Ability to work to strict deadlines whilst maintaining a good level of productivity.
- Competent underwriter with ability to use judgement, balancing commercial risk & opportunity.
- Dealing with queries effectively and accurately.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Maintains an up to date awareness of current market, financial and regulatory requirements.
- Experience of working within a busy environment.
