Principal Property Lawyer
£57,750 – £72,059 DOE
Full Time (37 hours) or Part Time (30 hours)
Hybrid working (2 days a week in the office)
Progressive legal services provider seeks an experienced lawyer to lead on complex projects and manage a small team of lawyers.
As the Principal Property Lawyer, you will be a ‘go to’ person for colleagues and clients and will enjoy a varied and stimulating caseload. You will manage a small team of legal professionals, troubleshooting complex issues and supporting any training needs.
The Commercial Property team deals with a broad range of matters including complex regeneration and development projects. They advise on land acquisitions and disposals, re-development of school sites, estate management work and transfers of land pursuant to s106 Agreements.
This is a permanent position offered on a full time or part time basis with flexible hours and hybrid working which allows for remote working. This will involve attending the office two days a week to support junior members of the team.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of commercial property lawyers
- Supervise other members of the team in a line management capacity
- Provide innovative and comprehensive legal advice on commercial property matters
- Manage a complex caseload and deliver advice within the timescales required by the client
- Advise and support to any of the client Councils’ Committees and Directorates as directed.
- Conduct negotiations and discussions with third parties in commercial property matters.
- Instruct and manage suppliers of external legal services such as solicitors
- Act as a legal advisor to client organisations to ensure compliance with statutory duties
- Build highly effective working relationships with clients
- Develop effective partnerships, networks and joint working arrangements
- Manage risks associated with the relevant areas of legal practice
- Manage the activities of the team to include performance, caseloads and productivity, motivation and development, recruitment and selection and appraisals.

Requirements:
- Qualified solicitor or barrister with a minimum of 2 years' PQE
- Extensive experience in providing legal advice relating to commercial property law
- Experience supervising a small team of legal professionals
