Subject Leader of Physics

Belvedere Academy

Location

Liverpool | United Kingdom

Job description

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic subject specialist as Subject Leader of Physics to join our outstanding school.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our thriving and growing Science department.  In line with the National Curriculum, Physics is taught to GCSE level, with approximately half of our Year 10 and 11 pupils choosing it as a stand alone subject, alongside Biology and Chemistry GCSE.  The other half year will be taught Physics as part of the GCSE Trilogy course. Numbers at A Level Physics are also growing.

The Subject Leader will also be expected to contribute to the leadership and improvement of the Science faculty in general as well as contributing to the outstanding enrichment programme on offer at Belvedere.

All pupils at Key Stage 3 study six hours of Science each fortnight. These lessons fit within a carefully sequenced curriculum journey and enable all pupils to build their knowledge ensuring that all pupils have the opportunity to succeed. Belvedere has an inclusive approach to the teaching of Science prioritising involvement and enabling all our pupils to become effective practitioners and engendering a ‘love of Science.’ The Physics team also benefits from having its own specialist laboratory technician.

As mentioned above, this is a fantastic opportunity for the right person to have a real impact on our pupils’ experience of Physics and Science in general, both in lessons and through enrichment. The post would suit an experienced teacher of Physics or someone who is already leading a department.

Belvedere was the first independent school to become an academy and is continuing the traditions and standards of its predecessor school. We were judged outstanding in all areas by Ofsted in January 2015. We have high expectations of all our students and we support them with excellent pastoral care.  Our extensive Enrichment programme allows students to develop into well rounded individuals. Children of our staff have a higher priority in our Y7 admissions process - please see the Admissions Policy on our website or call the academy office for further details.
