Sterling Meat Company Ltd are looking to recruit an experienced Assistant Manager/Retail Butcher to join their team at Meat Mart Wigan store.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic business with ambitious plans and with the potential to develop and further your career into a Store Management role.

Reporting to the Store Manager, the successful candidate will have a proven track record of retail management within the meat industry, will be personable and able to deliver excellent customer service through product knowledge and excellent communication, as well as being a highly skilled professional/technical butcher with good presentation, great leadership and customer service skills.

The Role:

• Assisting the Store Manager with the day-to-day operation of the store and take on full responsibility of the store in the Manager’s absence.
• Monitoring sales and gross margin performance.
• Driving sales to meet and exceed performance.
• Managing and maintaining high standards of food safety and HACCP procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and Company best practices
• Managing Health & Safety procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and Company Policies and Procedures.
• Delivering outstanding customer service, meeting customer demand and expectations consistently.
• Training, developing and motivating the team.
• Smart and well-presented appearance
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Excellent attendance/timekeeping
• Experience in butchery/meat cutting, preferably within a retail environment
• Excellent leadership skills with a strong work ethic with a ‘can do’ attitude.
• Previous experience in butchery/meat cutting preferably within a retail environment
• Quality minded with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent attitude towards customer service
• Proactive approach to tasks.

Salary/Benefits

40 – 45 hours per week, 5 out of 7 days

Salary negotiable dependent upon experience.
