Our client is looking looking for a talented Development Engineer to join their team based in Bracknell, Berkshire.

The Development Engineer is responsible for driving regular updates and new technological implementations for our systems and ensuring that the company is able to continually deploy and deliver new innovations, enhancements and essential maintenance without disruption to existing services and clients.

As a Development Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

Develop

• Research and evaluate the integration of new technology.

• Design and develop Redwood’s IT services using applicable methods and standards, in order to meet both in-house and customer requirements.

• Provide technical input during the tendering phase of projects (this may include man-day estimates of the work entailed.)

Project Support

• Assist in the preparation of Specification documents against customers’ Statements of Requirement.

• Manage the day-to-day activities of software projects by tracking progress and bringing matters to the attention of Project Managers when necessary.

• Hold status and technical review meetings with customers, both as documented in any relevant Specification and on an ad-hoc basis when necessary.

Validate

• Provide expert support including investigating and solving scaling issues.

• Produce test schedules, and conduct in-house and external testing in accordance with documented specifications.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• Bachelors degree/equivalent in STEM or Computer Science related subject, or substantial equivalent experience.
• Good experience of complex programming in C/C++.
• Good experience in designing and building scalable, real-time responsive systems.
• Good experience in developing multithreaded applications.
• Experience of network and telephony protocols or services.
• Experience of developing within a Windows environment.
• Be hard working, ambitious and eager to learn.
• Be well organised with excellent attention to detail.
