Job description
Our large and successful client in Chippenham, based in a new and modern premises require a Lithographic Print Operative.
This is a full-time and permanent role and a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly company with progression opportunities available.
Role Purpose
• To ensure all printed tickets are produced to the correct specification ensuring the instructions on the campaign brief are followed correctly.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare Lithographic Press by reading job instructions to understand all production requirements for the relevant campaign.
• Setting of Lithographic Press ensuring the correct job bag has been received and the Running Numbers have been received from the Production Manager and that the job has been printed to the correct specification as indicated on the job bag/campaign brief & proof.
• Once Press is set up ensure that sign off is achieved from Studio before going into production with the job
• Achieve production and quality standards by monitoring machine operations, detecting any malfunctions and deviations, adjusting controls where needed during the run.
• On production of the job, to continually check that the print quality is up to the required standard and the numbering is all in sequential order so that will not impact on the enclosing machines and that any problems with the stock supplied is reported.
• Ensure that the completed job is delivered to the enclosing departments in the timescale allowed and that the quality of work is to a high standard.
• Always ensure good housekeeping
Main Duties
• Being fully aware of the required production dates and timings of each campaign
• Raise any issues preventing the work being completed to the Production Manager immediately, e.g. if the machine is not running to optimum speed or optimum quality.
• Work towards achieving zero defects and looking for ways of reducing waste.
• Highlight any changes to improve efficiencies within the department.
• Any other duties as reasonably required.
Qualifications and Experience
• Lithographic printing qualification on a five-colour printing press.
• Lithographic printing experience on a five-colour printing press.
• A full understanding of all the quality procedures related to ticket printing.
• To know and understand the entire operational requirements of the assigned machine.
• City & Guilds or NVQ in Print Finishing.
• Machine operator experience.
