Shop Supervisor

Every item sold in our shops generates funding so we can continue to provide 2.7 million hours of expert medical, practical, bereavement and emotional support every year, in our hospices, in people's homes and in the community. We are here to make sure that everyone approaching the end of life or living with grief can access the support they need. We have a much-loved presence on high streets across the country - with a range of innovative shops, including boutiques, vintage and retro shops, and large format stores. As a member of the retail team, you’ll be helping us inspire communities to provide more care for more people through innovating and collaborating on ways to reduce, reuse and recycle. You will also be contributing to drive up the income that generates the vital funds necessary to keep our care and support services running. We understand our people are our most important asset and work hard to make sure you feel valued and included as part of a team. In retail most work every weekend, our managers mainly work only 1 in 2. We don't expect our teams to work past 5.15 in most of our shops. The earliest we start is 8.45am. We have every Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day off. Our shop has become a popular destination over the years and is ideally situated opposite the Skipton bus station. At Sue Ryder Skipton we pride ourselves on selling good quality ladies, gent’s and children’s designer brands at very competitive prices, whilst offering a selection of brand new items from garden ornaments, seasonal specials and gift ideas for all the family - and not forgetting our popular media, books and bric-a brac departments. Our shop has become a popular destination over the years and is ideally situated opposite the Skipton bus station. The beautiful market town of Skipton is also known as the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. Why not visit our historic castle, or take a stroll on the Leeds to Liverpool canal. Do you have retail experience with excellent customer service skills? Would you love to use your retail knowledge and experience for an important cause? If so come, assist, and support our Shop Manager to run our Skipton shop and contribute to the work we do across Sue Ryder! As our new Shop Supervisor, you will have retail experience with the commercial awareness to deliver sales. You’ll have a positive attitude and good judgement to do the right thing. You will have proven team leadership skills and the ability to help lead a large team of volunteers. It is essential is that you enjoy engaging with people, you have a positive can-do attitude and a good understanding of financial and IT administration.
