Job description

Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for a supportive and caring Teaching Assistant to join this secondary mainstream school in Haringey. This is a full time, long-term role for the rest of the academic year and upon review there will be an opportunity to go permanent.

The School:

The school is situated in Muswell Hill, Haringey and is a foundation secondary school for boys and girls. The school is set in 20 acres, allowing students the advantage of an unusually spacious site where lots of outdoor learning and exercise can take place. Students here enjoy a broad, innovative curriculum where traditional academic subjects are enriched by a strong emphasis on the creative arts.

On site is a specialist secondary school for Deaf Children where students receive one to one support from qualified teachers of the deaf and support staff. They also provide specialist language support in small groups. Students from both schools are together at break and lunchtimes, extra-curricular activities and in PE lessons.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

• Supporting the teacher in delivering the curriculum
• Assisting with the preparation of lesson plans and resources
• Supporting individual pupils with their learning, including those with additional needs
• Helping to manage behaviour in the classroom
• Supporting the teacher in the assessment and reporting of pupil progress
• Contributing to the wider life of the school

• Has a good understanding of special educational needs
• Is committed to helping all pupils achieve their full potential
• Is able to work independently as well as part of a team
• Has a positive and enthusiastic approach to working with children
• Is willing to contribute to the wider life of the school
