Learning Disability / Paediatric Senior Staff Nurse

Full or Part time Hours

Salary £35,364 to £37,130 pro rata with an additional increment paid for nights worked.

Brian House has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Staff nurse to join a forward thinking, integrative, caring and professional team who offer specialist palliative care and support to children and young people with life limiting conditions and their families. The hospice provides the highest standard of care in a modern and well- equipped environment, fit for the future whilst providing a relaxed and home from home environment.

At Brian House Children’s Hospice, our senior nurses will coordinate shifts, help develop and train within the new staffing structure consisting of Nurse Associates, HCA 3’s and HCA’s ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained to help the children they support make the most of every day. There is also opportunity for senior nurses to spend quality time with the children ensuring their nursing competencies are maintained. There is also exciting opportunities to work within the wider Fylde Coast system with rotations into different services. As the world of children’s hospice care evolves you will be working closely with the other hospices within Lancashire and South Cumbria sharing best practice education and skills across this wider integrated care system.

At Brian House Children’s Hospice we need senior paediatric nurses to help babies, children and young people who are seriously unwell make the most of every day. We’re looking for experienced nurses who want to develop their skills and knowledge within palliative care and complex care needs to join the team. Whilst the role can be challenging with no day the same, caring for very poorly children one day and the next creating some exciting activities allowing children to make the most of every day they are with us.

As part of our Specialist Care Team, you will care for children who are staying with us at Brian House and those visiting us for day care. Providing families with choice is central to Brian House’ care model, so you will also support children in their family homes and in community-settings.

Palliative care experience is welcomed, but not essential. You will be given all the training you need to support children throughout their lives, and at the end of their lives.
